EPFO has earlier decided to make Aadhaar mandatory for Pension claims. Now as per new directions issued from EPFO, even existing members has to provide Aadhaar to continue to avail benefits of Pension Scheme.


As per the said notification members or pensioners of the Employees’ Pension Scheme 1995 desirous of continuing the benefit of the said scheme are required to furnish proof of the possession of Aadhaar Number or required to make an application for Aadhaar Number enrolment by 31st January 2017.

In compliance of directions contained in the earlier notification, it has been decided by EPFO that a member must furnish the Aadhaar Number while submitting claim Form under Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 w.e.f 01st February, 2017.


In case, a member has not been allotted Aadhaar Number a copy of his/her Aadhaar Enrolment ID slip may be submitted along with the claim form for settlement of claim under EPS, 1995.

Further, if a member has neither got Aadhaar Number nor enrolled for Aadhaar Number the field office should provide facility within office premises itself for enrolment of Aadhaar Number and the copy of his/her enrolment slip must be submitted in the claim form.

All pension claims must be processed for settlement accordingly. It may also kindly be noted that Cabinet Secretary, Govt of India is closely monitoring the progress of linking Aadhaar Number for Pensioners under Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 through e-samiksha.
